Turkey. Week 2

We decide to prepare a video to share with the students in Catalunya and in Latvia to show a day in our school. They have a limited language in English as they have been learning English for only 7 months. We decided what they could talk to present on the video all together. They wrote their own sentences in groups of two with my little help of course.:) We made videos in 3 days and here they are .....Class 3-A from Ç.E.K 3 Mart İlköğretim Okulu ,Turkey.

Turkey. Week 1

The first week I did a 30 minutes presentation to my students after my travel to Graz. I showed the pictures I took and told them about. They were very excited to see their teachers as a student and about everything I told them about my days and my friends and my teachers in Graz. I showed them the map of Europe,Austria and Graz. And asked them if they had ever been there. Nobody had.And then I asked if anyone have experienced abroad. Some of them had. They told us about their travels. I mostly asked questions about  their feelings of being abroad. Later on I told them about our project and asked if they were ready to help me.They were very excited. I told them that they will meet 2 new countries and new foreign friends where they will be in contact on the blog. AlsoI told them that I didn't know much about Latvia and Catalunya and I would be very happy to learn more with them. Our responsibilities about the project and the deadline was an other important point we should agree on.
I asked them to think about the two countries that evening and take some notes what they would like to know. The next day they were almost ready with their ideas. We made a mind map on the board. There were lots of topics which each of the sudents could easily work on one.For example where should we see in Barcelona ,what is the climate like in La tvia, what are their favourite food, their folk dances, famous people of Latvia and Catalunya and examples of their work, their map, population, their flag, important cities and capitals, famous pop singers and songs, alphabets etc.I wrote a small note for the parents and explained what we will do for the project and asked their help.Because my students are only at the age of 9 or 10 :).By this way, parents would help their children to search for information on net ,related with their topic, share knowledge and share time with them.I told my students to get clear and important information only. They had plenty of time for the search at the weekend. On Monday, they did a presentation about their own topics and showed us related pictures. And then, we prepared a corner on the noticeboard just in the school hall for everybody's interest.

Latvia. Week 1

First Latvian students decided to present themselves by a video. This video was made by themselves so it doesn't have a high quality but Ī (as a teacher) think that the most important thing in teaching is to let students do themselves as much as it's possible because only through doing and feeling that they are involved and responsible and a teacher accepts their ideas make teaching and learning process successful.

P.S. There are some students missing on that day, but there will be a chance to meet them later...
